Berlin-based UX/UI design lead specializing in Augmented Reality and Generative AI.

Joe Grinbaum

In recent years I have led the UX/UI design department for Walmart global tech's emerging technologies in Tel Aviv focusing on the ideation, design, and implementation of the first Augmented Reality e-commerce tools ever launched on the Walmart platform.

Together with a vast team of senior designers, UX researchers, product managers, and data scientists, we invented new technologies enveloped in cutting-edge user experiences that drove up metrics such as conversion, AOV, and decreasing return rates to name a few.

Our high-profile projects were featured in prominent media outlets the likes of Good Morning America, CNBC, Forbes, Tech Crunch, etc.

In 2019 I joined the AR startup Zeekit as Director of UX/UI design, Operations, and Client Management and immediately got to work on creating the brand language and product strategy. As we were designing and developing our core products we started working with world-renowned clients such as ASOS, Farfetch, Tommy Hilfiger, Adidas, and more, creating either bespoke designs of our products or as-is implementations taking our startup from a niche experience to an industry must-have.

COVID-19 was a turning point as demand for AR increased and a need for best-in-class experiences that captivate users became a new focus. The company's clientele grew and diversified, our headcount increased as we rapidly hired more team members to support the demand, at the height of it I led multiple teams with over 20 employees.

In mid 2021 Zeekit was acquired by Walmart.

Between 2017 and 2019 I had the privilege of taking part in the meteoric rise of the Israeli fashion brand Yanga as the Creative & Marketing Director. During my time there, the brand transitioned from an independent company to joining the largest retail conglomerate in Israel FOX Group, expanding to over 40 stores nationwide with thoughts of venturing abroad.

With a unique point of view in the local market we created a brand with a distinct value proposition, store experience, graphic and visual language, recognizable photography style, and compelling video assets. We took a good customer club and made it great with over 75k registered members and a recognized turnover of over 60% of the company's annual revenue. In social media, we grew by over 200% yearly in following and influence, and in 2018 we got institutional recognition as well with a nomination as one of Israel's best fashion brands of the year.

Earlier in my career, I got to work in some of Israel's first e-commerce sites as a marketing manager and buyer, later I spent some years as a freelance service provider, offering Graphic Design and Branding, UX/UI and Web Design, Photography, Art Direction, and Creative Writing to local brands and publications.

For many years I had a media career that accompanied my main work, freelancing as a fashion and design Journalist at Time Out magazine and BVD.co.il, taking part in a daily TV show on HOT-TV, and making weekly appearances on local and global channels such as i24NEWS, Reshet, and Keshet 12 discussing fashion, design, and architecture.
